Kindie Korner Adventures

Kindie GRAD!!!!

Can you believe the year is almost over?  Where has the time gone?  I cannot believe how much we have learned this year!  We are so looking forward to celebrating our year of learning at our Kindergarten Graduation Celebration on Tuesday, June 19.

Please drop off your child at the classroom in the morning as usual.  Children can wear anything they would like (no uniforms necessary), but please know they will be wearing a white graduation gown on top of whatever you send them in.  Please don’t dress too warmly. The presentation will begin at 9:30 in the chapel.  We anticipate our morning wrapping up at approximately 10:30 and that will be the end of our day.  Kindergarten students will be dismissed at the end of the celebration and not be staying for the remainder of the school day.

We would love to have a time of refreshment after the presentation portion of our morning.  I will have a snack sign up sheet outside the classroom on a clipboard.  Please take a look and sign up to bring something to share!  We are looking forward to a wonderful time of celebration with you all!

Spring Sing Information

Now that we have made it safely back from our amazing trip to the Community Forest, it is time to turn our attention to the Spring Sing!

What is the Spring Sing? It is a concert/ worship night that our students have been working hard to prepare for you!  Our kindergarten students will have a special part to play, so please mark the following date on your calendar, if you haven’t already.

When is the Spring Sing?  It is next Monday night, May 28th at 6:30.  Students need to be dropped off at their classroom by 6:15.  Students can be picked up from their classroom after the concert.  Please feel free to invite family and friends to join us for this evening.  The concert will be held in the gym.

What should my child wear?  Our kindergarten classes will be singing a Hawaiian song and so Mrs. Caswell is asking the students to wear shorts, tshirts and flip flops or sandals.  She has a special flower lei for each child to wear for the concert as well.  If you have any questions about that, please feel free to ask her, or I can try to answer as well.

I think that’s it!  If something is unclear, feel free to catch me in the mornings, or at pick up, or send me an email.

Reminders for tomorrow

Tomorrow is our field trip to the community forest!

Please arrive at school on time so that we can leave promptly. If you can also take your chuld to the washroom one last time before the bell rings, that would be great!

Play clothes are to be worn as well as proper shoes for walking/hiking in.

Please ensure your child has a lunch and a full bottle of water that they are able to carry themselves. We will NOT be at the school for pizza.

Parents who have volunteered to join us: you will need to drive up and meet us (you are welcome to follow the shuttle up). As mentioned on the permission slip, you will need to have had your criminal record check done and on file at the office.

Thanks so much! It looks like the weather should be wonderful!!

See you tomorrow!

Field Trip on Tuesday!

With the long weekend happening between now and our Field Trip, I thought I better send home a quick reminder to everyone.

Tuesday, May 22 is our field trip to the Community Forest!  So exciting!  We are praying for nice weather.  Please dress accordingly, no uniforms required that day.  Please ensure proper footwear is worn for hiking in the forest (ie. no flip flops) and ensure your child has a lunch they can eat while there.  Please include a full water bottle.  WE WILL NOT BE AT THE SCHOOL TO ORDER PIZZA FOR LUNCH.

We will be leaving promptly in the morning, after a quick trip to the washroom and not returning until around 2 pm.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will do my best to answer them 🙂

Pizza Cards

Hi everyone!

The lovely pizza ladies have let me know that a number of elementary families have no pizza cards left.  I have tried to touch base today with any of you that I know ran out, but some others may be close.  If you haven’t checked on yours recently, could you stop in at the office to make sure you have enough left for the rest of the year?

Thanks so much!

Class Pets

Last Friday the children and I played 20 questions.  I had these little guys hiding in the “mystery can” and they had 20 questions to try and figure out what was inside.  We had a little talk about asking smart yes/no questions and I was AMAZED at how well they did narrowing down the possibilities.  By the time they got to the last of their 20 questions, the most popular prediction of the contents of the can was a spider…

Pretty good guess!

We are going to be watching these guys and seeing how they change and grow over the next few weeks.  It is so exciting to see how God makes something new and beautiful out of something so seemingly unexciting.

Numbers

Hi Parents!

Today a math page that we worked on this week is coming home.  During this activity I noticed quite a few students are not forming their numbers correctly.  Over the next week or so we will be taking some time to go over the correct number formations and we will be practicing during our math time in class.  If you look at the paper going home today and notice your child has a lot of backwards numbers, or numbers that you are having a hard time deciphering, please take some time to support your child with this at home by providing practice opportunities.

Thanks so much for partnering with me!
