Kindie Korner Adventures

Well, now that we are beginning to settle in to a school routine I am looking to have parents come in and help with some different activities during centre time.  We have centre time on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the afternoon and I would be looking to have someone come in and help occasionally from 2 pm until the end of the day.  If you are available to come in during those times (or one of those times) could you let me know which day or days of the week might work for you, and then I can put a schedule together.  I may not need a volunteer for each of those days every week, but knowing who is available, when, will help me with my planning.

On October 26 our High school Foods class will be making and serving soup to us with ingredients grown in our very own Highroad Garden.  Each class is being asked to supply the class with an ingredient not grown in the garden and our class is being asked to bring 12, 1 litre tetra paks of vegetable broth.  These need to be brought in by October 22.  Perhaps next time you are in the soup aisle at the grocery store, you could grab an extra to donate to the soup?

The foods class will be serving yummy soup to each class on the 26th, along with a bun and butter.  If you have any concerns or questions about that, please let me know.  Your child can choose not to partake in the soup, although last year almost all of the children LOVED it!

Oct 8- Thanksgiving Holiday (no school)

Oct 15- photo retakes

Oct 18- provincial earthquake drill

Oct 19- Professional Development day (no school for students k-6)

Oct 22- soup picnic items to be collected(more details to follow)

Oct 24- Parent/ Teacher interviews (no school for students- more information regarding registration for this day to follow)

Oct 26- soup picnic

Oct 30, 31, Nov 1- Scholastic Book Fair

Oc 31- fall color dress up day (no costumes please, just fall colors)

Just a reminder that library books should be returned on Thursdays.  Mrs. Britz will only be doing book exchanges on that day for us.  If you do happen to forget your books on a Thursday, you can return them the following Thursday.

On Friday, September 28, the Elementary department will be hosting a run to raise money for the Terry Fox foundation. All students are invited to bring a toonie to school in support of cancer research. Donations are voluntary and we will all run together regardless of money raised!

Catalogs are available at the school office
25% of each student’s sales goes in their Student reserve account.

Prizes will be given to Families with the highest sales.

Orders are due at the school office by Friday Nov. 23, 2018

Orders will be available for pick up on Friday Dec. 7, 2018

Hi everyone!

Our first field trip is sneaking up on us quickly!  If you have your criminal record check done and are interested in helping me at the Pumpkin Patch by supervising a small group of students, please let me know as soon as possible.  Our time at the patch is 9:30-11:30 on October 3. You can let me know via email, a comment here, or a note in your child’s back and forth folder.  Hope you can make it!  It’s always a lot of fun!

Yesterday we had our first visit to the library.  Thursdays are our book return days.  Please do your best to make sure your child returns their library books each Thursday.
