First Nations Day- help wanted

On May 8 we are having a First Nations Day.  The students will be rotating through stations being led by the different primary teachers.  I am looking for a parent who would be willing and able to spend the day rotating with my kindie class to each station.  If you are free for the day, and willing to do that, please let me know!

Field Trip Reminders

Tomorrow is our field trip to the Eco Dairy.  We will be leaving promptly in the morning so please be on time.  Students are to wear their Knight wear, a jacket or sweater, and appropriate footwear.  We will be eating lunch at lunch time when we return to school.  We will not be bringing our lunch kits, but I am encouraging students to bring their labelled water bottle and a snack that can fit in their jacket pocket.

Kindergarten Rocks!

In preparation for our Service Day project, please send your kindergarten student to school on Tuesday with 2 rocks, approximately 6 cm in diameter, and we, along with our grade 6 buddies, will be painting these rocks and then writing blessings on them.  Rocks that are too big will be too heavy to carry on our walk later, and rocks that are too small will be hard to decorate.  On Service Day we will be going for a walk in the neighborhood and leaving these rock blessings for someone else to discover as a “Random Act of Kindness.”  Please look for the permission slip coming home today.

4oth Anniversary!!!

Dear Highroad Community,

We’re almost there! It’s just over a week until the 40th Anniversary Weekend. Things are coming together and we’re very excited about gathering as a community and celebrating what God has done through and in the lives of families that call Highroad Academy their school.

Our Alumni basketball and volleyball games on Friday, April 26th kick off our Anniversary weekend The volleyball starts at 5pm and then we’ll be having a three team basketball mini-tournament. Come out and see the legends of the past and present stars. We will have the café open as well as a food truck selling burgers, hotdogs, and fries. Bring the family out for a great evening of fun. We look forward to seeing you there.

Saturday, April 27th, is our Gala Dinner. We will start at 5:30pm with appetizers. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. A few notable guests will share their Highroad memories and we’ll be showcasing some iconic HRA videos. It’s going to be a fabulous night of reconnecting, reminiscing, and enjoying delicious food.

As part of this celebration we’re having a silent auction to raise money to complete the beautification project we started in September. We’re very thankful to all the individuals and businesses that have contributed items or services to this fundraiser. We have well over 60 lots to bid on including vacation getaways, décor items, tools, electronics, home improvement services and so much more. The deadline to buy tickets for the Gala Dinner is next Tuesday, April 23rd at 10am so head to the school website (https://highroadacademy.com/product/40th-anniversary-gala/) to confirm your spot now.

Blessings,
Stuart Morris

Professional Day- May 3/ Parent Teacher Interviews

Hi Everyone!

I am busy working on interim reports which will be sent home on May 1.  On May 3 we have a professional development day and during the afternoon I will have some time to meet with you if you are interested in setting up a meeting.  Times for meetings will run from 1-6 pm.  There will be a place on the bottom of the interim report where I will indicate if I would like to meet with you.  If I don’t indicate that I would like to meet, but you would still like to, you are more than welcome to set up a time to meet with me.  You can set up a time by emailing me or talking to me directly.  These appointments are not set up through the office.

Thanks!
