We are wrapping up our themes of apples and pumpkins and are heading into a more generic “fall” theme, in combination with learning about our community. The first couple of weeks of November we will be looking at our roles and responsibilities in our families and in our school, and during the last two weeks we will be learning about our community of Chilliwack. We could use your help!
I have a couple of special guests lined up to come and visit us and tell us about their roles within our community and I would love to invite YOU to come in and tell us about YOUR job within the community. If you are willing and able to come in and share about your job and how you make our community awesome, let me know which days and times might work for you and we will schedule you in!
Looking forward to a great month of learning!
On November 21, from 3:15-4:15 in the chapel, we will be hosting a parent seminar all about our Spell to Write and Read program. This is the phonogram program we use to teach students to write and read. If you would like to know more about what the phonogram sounds are and how you can support your child at home, please come join us for an hour of learning!
As a fundraiser for our missions team, panago pizza vouchers are available for purchase at the school office. For the cost of $13 you can order any medium panago pizza and support our missions team!

Mrs. Basaraba came to visit us today to talk about making our school beautiful in celebration of Highroad’s 40th birthday! If you would like to donate towards this project, stop by the office to make your donation, get your leaf on the tree by the office and get your thank you gift!
Today we talked about earthquakes a bit and we practiced what we will do for our big practice tomorrow. If your child comes home talking about this, we did cover this today.
I showed the following video and then we practiced our safety plan. For some children talking about these things can be rather frightening but we all seemed to manage quite well today. I always try to reassure them that they are safe, but they may need to talk about it with you at home.

Would anyone be able to donate a cup or two of cornflakes for an art project I am hoping to do with the students next Friday? (We are not planning to eat them).
