Kindie Korner Adventures

Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful school break.  I pray you all are able to find time to laugh and experience joy with those you love and that your weary hearts can rejoice at the birth of our saviour.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for the extremely thoughtful gifts and words of encouragement and blessing that you poured out.  I feel so loved and appreciated and am so thankful for each one of you and your children.

Enjoy your time together and we will see you on January 4th!

Gingerbread Men

Next week we will be having Gingerbread Week here in Kindergarten.  We will be reading a different version of The Gingerbread Man story each day and doing a variety of gingerbread activities.  On Tuesday we will be decorating gingerbread men- thank you to Shaylene for baking cookies and prepping icing bags for each child and thank you to Tabitha for donating a canister of Christmas sprinkles for decorating.  I am looking for one or two other parents who would be willing to send in a small bag of candies for decorating as well (mini m&m’s or skittles or anything else small).  If you would like to send something, please let me know.

Also, if you have any concerns regarding food allergies etc, please contact me so that we can come up with a plan for your child.  We will be following COVID protocols for this activity and students will have their own individual supplies and candies for decorating.

It’s going to be so much fun!

Paper Chain Advent Bell

Each student is bringing home a paper bell advent calendar.  Please help your child find somewhere to hang it.  Every night before bed your child will need to cut one of the links off the paper chain and when they reach the bell….. IT’S CHRISTMAS!

Christmas Concert Clothing- A Note From Mrs Shinness

Clothing for Christmas Concert Gr. K-3

Wednesday Dec. 15 is Christmas Sweater Day at Highroad.  This is perfect for our annual Christmas Concert performance.  Many students have asked, “But what if I don’t have a Christmas sweater?”.  Good question.  Here are the options for the Christmas concert:

  1. a long-sleeved Christmas themed Tshirt, sweatshirt or sweater
  2. a long-sleeved plain T-shirt, sweatshirt or sweater
  3. a long-sleeved Tshirt, sweatshirt or sweater turned inside out, if there is a design that doesn’t fit our Christmas theme.

Any choice of jeans or dark pants/skirts are preferable to complete the students’ ensemble.

NOTE: we hope that every student has one of these options, as we would like to avoid having one or two students stand out from the class because they are wearing their uniform for this concert.
