Kindie Korner Adventures

Phonogram Update

As we approach the end of September, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that we have been introduced to the following phonograms:

a,o,c,d,g,f,s,qu

When we are introduced to a phonogram we focus on the sounds that phonogram makes as well as the correct formation of the letter.  All of these phonograms begin at the place where a number 2 would be on a clock, so we call these our clock letters.  These phonograms all start at the two and go up and around, from the 2 to the 1 to the 12 etc.

We will continue to review these phonograms as we add more to our list in the coming weeks.

New Memory Verse- Letter B

A new Bible verse is coming home today.  This one starts with the letter B.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”

Acts 16:31

Please help your child practice at home.  I will be asking them next Wednesday if they know it.

Thanks for your help!

Field Trip

What a fun time we had on our Field Trip to Greendale Acres farm.  We even got to have EXTRA time there when we had some bus trouble and needed to wait for the shuttle to come and pick us up.  Thank you for being flexible and understanding with the chaos in the hallway at the end of the day today.  I am sure your kiddos went home tired and hungry!

Keep your eyes open on Seesaw for some Pumpkin Patch pictures!

Thanks to the parents who came and helped out- we couldn’t do field trips without you!

Field Trip on Tuesday

We are so excited about our field trip to Greendale Acres Farm next Tuesday!  Every morning at carpet time we count how many more sleeps until we get to go.  A few things to note about our trip:

-We will be wearing play clothes and dressing for the weather- if it’s been rainy, boots would be a great idea.  You may also want to send along a change of socks depending on what the weather looks like.  Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket.  We will be at the farm for 2 hours.  If its chilly, this is a long time to be outside without a jacket.

-PLEASE SEND A BAG WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON IT so they can put their pumpkin in it.

Memory Verses

The children are coming home with a memory verse today.  Next Wednesday I will be asking them if they know their verse.  Please help them learn it.  We will be practicing a bit at school but your support at home with learning it is invaluable.  We will be doing one verse for each letter of the alphabet.  Today’s verse begins with A.  You may want to get a binder or duotang at home to collect the verses in as the year goes on so that you can go through them together even after Kindie is over!

This week’s verse is

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

Terry Fox Run- Toonies for Terry

Tomorrow we will be doing a run around the field (or gym if the weather is not cooperating) and we will be talking a little bit about Terry Fox.  If you would like to send along a toonie to donate, that would be great!

Parking Lot Reminders

Parking Lot Information:

Please ensure that you always follow the procedures for parking lot safety while using the Highroad Academy parking lot.

  1. Follow direction of flow as indicated by the arrows and signage.
  2. Park ONLY in designated parking areas. Do not park in ‘No Parking’ zones including the Drop Off lane on the west side of the building.
  3. Pull into a parking stall when dropping off and picking up students rather than stopping in the driving lane. Do not stop next to the pylons to drop off or pick up your students.
  4. Do not drive alongside the overhang of the main school entrance, north side of the building.
  5. Do not enter through the Chilliwack Central Entrance nest to the playing field. This is a Fire Lane, and the parking area is not available for HRA use.
  6. Always be alert for children who may dart out between cars.

Preparing for Full Days

Well, our half days of Kindie have come to an end.  There were a lot of friends saying “I’m tired!” today and so I am sure that by the end of next week, we will be exhausted!  That being said, the children have done well acclimating to the school environment and we are well on our way to learning our morning routines.

Next week we will be adding a lot of new routines to our knowledge base- things like PE, music class, lunch and rest time!

Please ensure your child’s PE shoes and pillow are at school for Monday next week if they haven’t already brought them.

Just a reminder that pick up time is at 2:45.  Please be prompt for pick up.  If you have an older child who will be picking up your kindie, please ask them to be prompt as well, and let me know if your older children have permission to pick up your kindie.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! See you on Monday!
