Highroad Helps Challenge!

Dear Highroad Families

This week, we’re excited to support an incredible cause through our Highroad Helps MIT Campaign Challenge! Together, we have an opportunity to make a difference while teaching our students the importance of generosity and community. We’re challenging each to bring in a toonie this week to contribute toward a meaningful goal. These donations will go directly toward the Salvation Army to provide support for individuals and families in need.

We’re confident that this initiative will not only benefit the recipients of our contributions but also enrich the hearts of our students. Thank you for your partnership and enthusiasm in making this week’s campaign a success.

Together, we can show that Highroad truly helps!

Gingerbread Cookies- Decorations Needed

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a couple of parents who would be willing to send in some small candies/sprinkles that we can use to decorate our gingerbread cookie people next Wednesday.  Mrs Dumont, our high school foods teacher, has graciously volunteered to bake the cookies and prepare the icing bags but we want to be able to decorate too!

If you would be willing to send in some small candies for the class to use, please let me know.  I would like to be able to prepare these on Tuesday of next week so the candies would need to come in before that.

Thanks so much!

Fresh Air Friday

Every Friday we spend some time outdoors, learning, playing and exploring.  Today we walked to a neighborhood park where we investigated leaves, played on the playground equipment and made piles of other natural materials we found there.  It did rain on us and we were all very thankful to have jackets.

As the weather gets cooler and more unpredictable, it would be a great idea to have a toque, gloves and boots at school.  There were quite a few friends today saying their fingers were cold as we were walking back from the park.  Please help your child be prepared for the weather.

Highroad Helps- Christmas 2024

Our Christmas Campaign to help our community has arrived at Highroad.  This year there are 3 ways you can help:

  1. Money- you can donate money to the Salvation Army.  There will be a Salvation Army Kettle in the office for donations.
  2. Items- you can bring in new or gently used winter wear items (touques, mittens, scarves etc), new personal hygiene items and non-perishable food items.  These can be placed in the bin in the school lobby.
  3. Time- if you and your children spend time serving our community.  For every 30 minutes served, children can decorate a paper mitten and have it added to the bulletin board.  Please let me know if your child will need one.

Please Send an Extra Bag

Tomorrow we will be making a special Christmas Advent Calendar with our buddies.  It will be sent home tomorrow but is not to be started until December 1.  Please send an extra bag along tomorrow (a reusable bag from the grocery store would be great) so your child can take their calendar home safely.  Thanks!

Friday November 8- Important Info (part time students can disregard)

Good morning parents,

On Friday we have a couple of different things happening here at school.  The kindies will be heading to Garrison Forest for Forest Friday- we will be there between recess and lunch.  In the afternoon we will be attending some of the Remembrance Day Assembly.

A message has been sent out that students are to wear their uniforms on Friday but this DOES NOT apply to Kindies.  We would prefer the students dress in their Knight Wear so that they can play in the forest freely, not worried about their uniforms.

Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
