Team Thailand Suitcase

Hi Families

We are running out of time to fill up the suitcase for our Team Thailand trip.  We are looking for travel sized personal hygiene items as well as school supplies for our team to take to Thailand with them on their missions trip.  Are you able to help?  We have a good collection started, but there’s still room in the suitcase!

Thank you so much to those of you have already contributed.  What a blessing these items will be to children who have so much less than we do.

Reminders

Hi all!

Just a few reminders: tomorrow is pink shirt day.  In an effort to raise awareness about bullying we will be having an assembly tomorrow at 11 and the students are all invited and encouraged to wear a pink shirt to school with their casual pants.  It is not Knight Day tomorrow.  If your child does not want to wear a pink shirt, they are to wear their uniform.

Also, 100 day is fast approaching.  You should be working with  your child on his/her 100 day project.  Please search the blog using the search function to find out more about this if you don’t know what I am talking about.  100 day projects are due to the school on Monday, February 27.  Students are also encouraged to dress like they would if they were 100 years old that day.  Hopefully you have had a chance to think a bit about this.  If not, there is still one more weekend to spend some time doing that.  If you have any questions about that, please let me know.

If you signed up to send something for 100 day and have already sent it in, thank you so much!  If you signed up and haven’t sent it yet, feel free to do so any day.  I can store things in my cupboard and then you don’t have to think about it again.  I am still looking for someone to send raisins to school for the class for that.

Thanks so much everyone for your participation in your child’s education!

February Fun

Here are some photos of our time together this month.  We had so much fun today! Special thanks to Mrs. Bridge, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Tara, and Mrs. Nicole for coming in this afternoon and helping us with our special centers. Huge thanks also to Mrs. Tara for baking cookies for us, Mrs. Lueck for providing the icing, and Mrs. Kelly for the cookie decorations.  The cookie center was a BIG hit!  I also owe a huge thank you to Miss Laura Wilson who has been doing some work experience hours with us.  Many of you asked how I managed to prep all these activities for the kids, and today they were in large part possible because of all of Laura’s prep for us!

100th Day of School Celebration!

Well, I think it’s safe to say our crazy weather is behind us and I should be able to say, with confidence, that we will be celebrating our 100th Day of Kindergarten on February 27!  We like to celebrate in a few different ways.

  1.  We like to dress up like we are 100 years old!  Please help your child find something to wear that he or she might wear if they were 1o0!  This is a lot of fun but not meant to stress anyone out.  Google can provide a lot of easy and fun ideas!  So can pinterest if you are on there at all!
  2. We like to make 100 Day Snack Mix!  I need the following 10 snacks to be sent to school.  We will need enough so that each student can have 10 pieces of each snack.  Please take a look at the list and let me know if you are able to help:  pretzel sticks- COVERED!, chocolate chips- COVERED!, marshmallows- COVERED!, cheerios- COVERED!, fruit loops- COVERED!, raisins, m and m’s, teddy  grahams- COVERED!, popped popcorn- COVERED!, and goldfish- COVERED!.  (List is updated – items in bold text still needed)
  3. Our last 100 day activity that we need your help with is the 100 Day Collection. Basically, your child chooses something to find 100 of (buttons, Lego, Popsicle sticks etc), and then use those 100 items to create a masterpiece. For example, 100 Lego pieces could be connected together to make a 100 piece house, or 100 buttons could be glued onto a paper to make a flower. Please send 100 day creations to school on February 27 so your child can present it to the class.

Let me know if you have any questions about this super fun day! I would also love to have a couple of parents come in and help from 1:30 until the end of the day. Please let me know if you would like to come celebrate with us!!

Valentine’s Day Update

I am still looking for a few parents who would be willing and able to come in to help on Feb 14 from 1:30 until the end of the day.  I am also looking for a volunteer to bake heart sugar cookies and someone to send some icing.  Another volunteer to send some small sprinkles or candies would be great.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to fill any of these gaps.

Thanks so much!

UPDATE!  Sprinkles, candies and cookies have been spoken for, and I have 3 parents coming in that afternoon.

Anyone able to send some icing?

Valentine’s Day is Approaching!

Valentine’s Day is approaching and with having the 10th off for a Professional Day and the 13th off for Family Day, I thought I best get you this information as soon as possible.

I will be sending home a note tomorrow about Valentine Cards.  Please look for it in your child’s folder after school on Thursday.

We will be having some fun Valentine Centers on Tuesday, February 14th and I would love to have some help.  If you are able to come and join us on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 until the end of the day, we would really appreciate that!  I am looking for 2-3 parents who would be willing to come in for that time.

I would love to have one of our centers be cookie decorating.  If you would be willing to bake 20 sugar cookie hearts for us, could you let me know?  I would also appreciate some white or pink icing and some candy.  If you can supply some of that, could you also let me know?

Thanks in advance!
