Kindie Korner Adventures

June Reminders and a Call for VOLUNTEERS!

Just a few reminders for you as we approach the end of the year:

Tuesday, June 13- hot dog lunch with our buddies (hot dogs provided, please send along a drink and anything else your child might like to eat with their hot dog)

Wednesday, June 14- this is a half day.  Dismissal at 12 noon

Thursday, June 15- PLEASE RETURN ALL HOME READING BOOKS AND SIGHT WORDS

Tuesday, June 20- Go Bananas Field trip (play clothes- SOCKS ARE A MUST!)

Wednesday, June 21- this is a half day.  Dismissal at 12 noon.  This is also our Primary Fun day!  We will spend the morning celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday with fun station activities outside and in the gym.  WE NEED HELP!  If you are able to spend the morning with us running a station, please let me know.

Thursday, June 22- Kindie Grad!!  Students need to be dropped off in the classroom at the usual time.  We anticipate our program beginning at 9:15 and running for about an hour, with snacks provided afterward.  Students may wear anything they like that day but keep in mind it will be under a white graduation gown.  If you do not want it to show underneath, perhaps shorts or a skirt would be a good option.  They can get warm under those gowns so something cool and comfortable is recommended.

I think that’s all for now!  Let me know if you have any questions as we wrap up our time together.

Thanks so much!  Enjoy your weekend!

Getting Ready

Your children are getting ready for grade one.  As I have been assessing what each child can do in preparation for writing report cards I am amazed at how far each one of them has come.  Thank you for all of the extra time you have put in, practicing phonograms, sight words, and participating in home reading with your child.  Your efforts, and theirs, are really paying off.

Last Friday afternoon we paid a visit to Miss Evans in her grade one room to see what it was like.  Please note that just because we all visited her, they will not all be in her class.  We tried to make that clear, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware that it was simply a little glimpse of first grade.

As we look to summer, please check your child’s folder for a slip of paper from Ms Britz our librarian.  If your child could locate the library book written on the paper and return it to school as soon as possible, that would be very much appreciated!

Kindie Grad Snack Sign Up

Hi All!

Kindie Grad is fast approaching and we want to take some time to celebrate your child’s year with you!  Outside the classroom I have a snack sign up sheet.  Please take a look and see if there is something on the list you would like to bring.  We are planning to have a time of fun and snacks after our program is over.  Kindie Grad should be over by about 10:30 and your child will be dismissed for the year at it’s conclusion.

Thank you for your help!
