Kindie Korner Adventures

Thursday- Please send! Friday- Please send!

We are starting a new unit this week all about Force and Motion!  This is a really fun science unit and I am really looking forward to it.

To start things off I am asking everyone to bring something on Thursday that they can make move.  Please take some time to ask your child what they would like to bring that they can make move.  We are going to do a bit of investigating!

Friday- is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and we are going to spend the day celebrating!  For Family Friday this week, please bring along some Dr. Seuss books, if you have some.  I would highly recommend making sure your name is in them so we can ensure you get your books back.

Thanks so much!

March Dates and reminders

What?!  March?  How are we already here?!  This year is flying by!  Please take a moment to write the following dates on your calendar so that you know what’s going on here at Highroad during this busy time of year:

Friday, February 23– Professional Development Day- no school for students

Wednesday, February 28– Pink Shirt day- students are welcome to wear a pink shirt and casual bottoms.  If they choose not to wear a pink shirt, they will need to wear their uniform.

Friday, March 2– scholastic orders are due- sorry for the short turn around time but if you want to have books back for Easter gifts I wanted to do my best to make sure they arrived before Spring Break!

Friday, March 9– half day of school 12:15 dismissal

Friday, March 16– Report cards go home and Spring Break begins.

April 3- back to school!

Guatemala Donations

We are nearing our collection time of items to send with our missions team to the children in Guatemala.  If you haven’t already, would you consider looking through your home for gently used toys, summer clothing etc to send along?  Purchased items are also welcome.  Please see previous posts for the list of items we are looking for, or take a look at the classroom door.  We are collecting items until Thursday.

Thanks so much!

We just got mail!

What a huge surprise we got today! A big parcel arrrived today from Churchill, Manitoba. Inside was a letter from Collin’s Opa! He sent some great information to us from his friends at the Polar Bear Research Centre there, and included photos, polar bear stuffy keychains and 2 beautiful books about polar bears. We all oohed and awed over the stunning photos in the books!

Thanks Opa!

Valentine’s Cards

Today I sent home a list containing all the names of the students in our class.  On Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, students will have an opportunity during class time to pass out cards for their friends.  If you choose to send valentine cards, please make sure you have one for each child.  Also, if you would prefer to simply address each card “to my friend” rather than write each child’s name, that’s great too!
