UFLI Decodable Passages

Today we took time, in small groups, to look at the Decodable Passage that is part of our UFLI program. This week’s passage is entitled “I Sit, I Tap.” The decodable passages are made up of a combination of irregular words that the students have been introduced to as well as words that are decodable (meaning they can sound them out). Some of the students were successful at reading the passage independently and did not need to sound out any of the words (they could just see the words and read them). Some students could read parts fluently but needed to sound out other words and some students were working on tracking the words in the text by pointing, one word at a time, and reading along with me. We are all working on these skills at different levels.

The students are bringing this home today. Please take some time to go over it with your child. You might be surprised at how well they can read it!
