I can’t believe we only have 6 more school days this month! We are wrapping up our unit on Community and will begin to focus on Christmas with the arrival of December.
Something that often surprises us, is that Christmas is celebrated differently in different communities. During our last 2 weeks of school before Christmas holidays we will be learning about Christmas Around the World! I am hoping you can help us!
Does your family have connections to traditions from another culture, country or heritage? Would you be willing to come in and help us learn about that? If you have a connection to a Christmas tradition from another country, I would love to work with you to help our students expand their view of the world. Please let me know as soon as you can if you think you might be willing to share with us. This can be as simple as you showing a youtube video about the country where you are from, and coloring a picture, or as elaborate as doing a craft. It is my hope to focus on countries that are meaningful to the children and the families they represent.
My husband’s family is Swedish and we always incorporate Swedish traditions in our Christmas festivities. I am excited to share these with the students this year, and would love to learn about your traditions as well. Let me know if you can help!
