Phonogram Update

I thought I would give you an update on the phonograms we have been introduced to in class, in case you are working on them at home with your child.  So far we have been introduced to all of the “clock” phonograms (o, a, c, d, g, s, f, qu) and because the students were eager to get a peek at some new ones this week, we also looked at l, and t.  If you don’t have a set of phonogram cards to use for practice at home, they can be purchased at the school office or there is an app that you can download.

New Memory Verse- due October 14

Wednesday seems like a better day to ask the children their memory verses (and it won’t get interfered with by holidays or professional days) so we will keep the day for reciting our verses as Wednesday.

Our new verse is :

“Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”

Ephesians 6:1

Comfort Kits- Reminder

Hi Parents

Just a quick reminder that your child is required to have a comfort kit/ emergency kit at school.  A handout about this was sent home a number of weeks ago.  Please let me know if you need more information about what a comfort kit needs to have in it.

Please send these to school as soon as you can.

Thank you!

Bible Verse extension- due Wednesday

Due to so many absent children at the beginning of the week last week I will extend the time allotted to practice our current memory verse.  Students will be asked on Wednesday to say the following verse:

“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved”  Acts 16:31

Library Books

Yesterday morning quite a few students told me they didn’t have their library books to return.  When we got to the end of the day and were packing our bags for home, some of the kindies found their library books actually in their lockers!  If this is the case, your child may have the same books they had last week.  Book exchange day is Wednesday so if your child didn’t exchange books yesterday, they will need to wait until next week.

Turkey Project

Hi Families! Yesterday your child came home with a home project in their folder.  Your child’s assignment is to, with your help, or the help of other family members, disguise the paper turkey to save it from being eaten for Thanksgiving.  If you aren’t sure how to go about that, or are looking for some inspiration, feel free to google search “Turkey in disguise” for some ideas.  Pinterest is full of them!  Disguised turkeys are due back to school on October 13 and students will be given an opportunity to show their work to the classmates and tell a bit about what they did to keep their turkey safe.

Have fun working together!
